Georg (Skip) Kremer – Bio

My father was a serious amateur photographer, and I grew up spending countless hours
with him in the field and the darkroom. Sadly, he passed away in his sixties, but his
passion for photography left a lasting impression on me. From the mid-1980s through
2000, I pursued film photography seriously, before setting it aside to focus on another
great interest—art history.

For the next fifteen years, I devoted myself to researching one of art history’s most
neglected and elusive subjects of 20th Century art: Magic Realism in painting, particularly
during its golden years between 1920 and 1960. My studies culminated in The Essence of
Magic Realism
, a comprehensive treatise with extensive galleries, registered with the
Library of Congress. The article, along with accompanying images, has reached millions
of readers through my website, Monograffi.com, and represents thousands of hours of
dedicated research.

In 2015, I returned to photography. The transition from film to digital was both
challenging and invigorating—requiring me to relearn the craft with new tools and
techniques. Since then, I’ve enjoyed sharing knowledge and engaging with other
photographers through numerous articles on specialized subjects such as Luminosity
Masks, Monochrome Conversion Techniques,
and Architectural Photography. My research has
also extended to the study of historical photographers and their work.

My interest in Infrared photography dates back to my film days in the 1990s. In recent
years, I’ve experimented extensively with more than a dozen full-spectrum
cameras—both color and monochrome. My upcoming presentation, “The Science and Art of
Infrared Photography”
, explores these two essential dimensions of the medium, with
particular attention to the fascinating potential of dual bandpass filters, a topic of special
interest to me.

I look forward to meeting with all of you on October 28th . I promise that you will be
amazed to see the potential and beauty of Infrared Photography.
